Bad idols, bad!

Article: Yeo Hyun Soo "Film festivals, idols receive the applause while the actors are left in the back..."

Source: Mydaily via Nate

"On my way to Seoul now. The seniors that should've received an applause were left on the backburner while the idols received all of the applause. Any actor who appeared after the idols had to deal with the awkward situation of being booed and an uninterested crowd. Good job. Not that I did anything good myself but I want to be a cool senior. Well that's the end of my bitter film festival account."

1. [+963, -32] Like Yeo Hyun Soo said, the BIFF has become filled with nobody nugus. Just two years ago, it used to boast top name actors like Go Soo, So Ji Sub, and even the biggest of them all, Jang Dong Gun... but now they're all idol singers and B level celebrities. They all end up looking like excited little kids cosplaying as actors and adults. I don't think any real, true actor would want to attend the BIFF anymore at this rate.

2. [+863, -23] The film festivals are losing their class. The red carpet has become a place for exposing skin and idols while the real actors of international films are treated like leftover rice. It's embarrassing to call this Asia's best film festival. We need to fix this!!!

3. [+488, -29] Not like anyone thinks of this as the Cannes... People just go to see what the rookie actresses are wearing.

4. [+29, -6] I was actually there... and every time an actor appeared, people in the crowd kept asking when EXO was going to come out.. and as soon as EXO came out and did their thing, everyone left and went home.

5. [+19, -6] How about actors worry about their own attitudes first? They're always caught with expressionless faces when singers put on congratulatory performances at award shows ㅋㅋㅋ I can understand having no reaction to idol performances but some actors didn't even react to Park Jung Hyun and Lee Seung Chul

  7. Have you ever had to deal with picking up massive amounts of rubbish like that? Even if it was a little bit of mess people should have more manners than to throw their garbage wherever they like. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if someone came into your home and decided to drop their crap wherever they wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  8. lol so what? people like who they like. the audience liked the idols more than the actors this time.

  12. Well of course people are going to stand on the carpet to see their favs, and when they are past....why stay? I'd do the same lol. Booing is out of line but what's the point in being there and taking up space to see people you don't care about.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Looks like kind of karma to me, a years ago the actor and actree always put their blank or straight face when idol performing on stage, remember SNSD case, and now its turn out that the were the one left with no reaction by audience there

    ReplyDelete
  24. they dont have respect... thats what people hate about those fangirls

    ReplyDelete
  25. If the idols and their fan's weren't there, would the applause for the actors have been any louder? Showing respect is common sense, but expecting to receive the same level of appreciation from people who may not even know of you seems weird. Shouldn't your own fans gather as well?

    ReplyDelete
  26. So which is it? The talk is that SK doesn't care about idols but they stick them in CF's, variety, dramas, musicals and movies. If they're nothing, why do that? If actors are so revered why don't their fans come to cheer them? Seems like the actors are nothing and idols receive all the love.

    ReplyDelete

    True story.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Trashy fangirls just like the trash they threw on the ground. These veteran actors actually have acting talent and have been in the industry way longer than your oppars/unnies. Have a seat and get some class. This is prestigious event, not for low class people. They should be ashamed of themselves. I swear, some of those Exo fan girls are like an overrun cockroach infestation...where's the can of Raid when you need it?

Do people expect for celebrities to be smiling and having that usual stupid "o" look on their face 24/7? Do they have to show excitement throughout everything? Is it a crime to have a blank face? I'm pretty sure this person has an expressionless face pretty much throughout the whole day.

  38. BIFF this year is a bit of a mess, not just the idol fans but the production itself. nb should translate the whole Kang dong won scandal.

im not so sure abt this sc i only understand a lil korean, anw what i get is, at first kang dong won canceled his appearance for his movie screening in BIFF didn't say his reason, i think BIFF got mad and threatens that he could be totally banned from coming to busan (like ever) when the fact his family home is in Busan, so he forcefully showed up looking sick (myb that's why he canceled at first).

    ReplyDelete
  63. When they left even the event still going on. Like your co-VIPs.

I think Exo is talented in my personal opinion but not the best...some of them lack in some areas but are strong in others. I like some of their songs and overall I think the music they produce for them is good. They are all talented in their own way, but they are not the best..I think that tittle is one that no one can claim as their own to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Big bang too

    ReplyDelete
  82. and the actors looking down on idols would be called respect? since when do actors become so self-entitled ~ expecting to be 'respected' when the fans came to the event to SPECIFICALLY see certain groups? it doesnt make sense to me

    ReplyDelete
  83. I believe respect should have been given and they should have not booed. But why do the actors feel like they're entitled to applause and cheering. You can't expect everyone to know who you are or be familiar with your works. And also those fangirls need a lesson in cleaning up after themselves, just add that to the ever growing list on things they need to work on -_-

    ReplyDelete
  84. forcing them, or whatever scenario) and becoming actors, so people can see them in, hopefully, a better light and consider them "versatile", but that's pretty rude.

P.S. I probably shouldn't be saying saying this since I'm not some professional critic, but I don't really think some idols are really "actor material"....

I can't with people defending those fangirls in BIFF.
    BIFF is a FILM FESTIVAL!!!!!
The center of the show should be for ACTORS who are participated the FILM!
Your oppars are just there as FILLERS!
BUT STUPID FANGIRLS made the festival turn into an IDOL festival.
THEY DIDN'T even showed respect to the real stars of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  86. tbh EXO has more fans than those overrated actors together.

    ReplyDelete
  87. It's not the idols' fault, they can't really control when their fans would applaud. It's the fans' fault, if they don't want to embarrass their idols then they should have known how to behave.

    stop.

    ReplyDelete
  101. IA with the netizens. But while I do feel these festivals need to be revamped, Yeo Hyunsoo is rubbing me the wrong way with that statement. Other actors have been plenty graceful about this stuff in the past--it's not like actors/actresses aren't revered enough in general.

    ReplyDelete
  102. . [+146, -21] I'd never throw anything away Lee Jun or Kim Hyung Jun gave me ㅋㅋ

    me too.... me too...

    ReplyDelete
  103. Why would I feel like that because of a message a nugu put at a site? You're not that important to me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  104. Errr.. I think sometimes actors think too highly of themselves too; as in actors are "a class higher" than idols. Top idols were in attendance at BIFF - TOP, Taecyeon, Lee Joon and EXO - so of course, their welcoming are also the best.

I'd think if an actor or actress are the top ones, they'd be welcomed that much too. Hard to think Kang Dong Won or Won Bin or Hyun Bin or Song Hye Gyo won't be welcomed. Don't want to be bitter but everybody including actors and idols should start increasing their fame, fanbase and worth first.

The booing should not happened though.

    ReplyDelete
  105. i generally like music awards shows than acting awards shows because even if the idols are faking it at least they are putting their best foot forward, i've watched a lot of performances by idol groups in acting awards shows and it was the worst experience ever. i get that they have to have this chic image but is it so hard to lift their two hands and clap even at the end? or stretch their faces and give even just a small smile. i find it so disrespectful towards the performers, idols or not.

  115. how bout if it's actually a tip of an iceberg of the whole idols turn into actors thing? not saying all idols whove turned actors or tried to act were all bad (there're lots of them who actually can act) but seems some of them have made them weary, those idols can get casted without a proper audition like the real actors (a.k.a non idols). netbuz hv been posted this issues several times.

and now, what's the point to invite idols who werent actually coming to present an awards nor acted in the movies and jst got there because their company "can" send them there??

    ReplyDelete
  116. If what you say is true, WHY THE EFF are actors so pressed when some idols show up? Oh that's right, b/c they cant stand that these idols are receiving much more attention than they are...

Knetz need to realize that actors too are desperate for attention and they think they can just belittle any idols and their popularity..

  140. No it depends on the person. I'm pretty sure SNSD/Big Bang make more money than top actors do. And pretty sure they have more cfs too. Plus, it's been reveled that idols/singers have a higher yearly salary than actors do.

Weather they are males or females the sex doesn't matter, what matters is the mentality of the person and just how much they 'love' their oppas/noonas/unnies fanboys can be just as delusional as fangirls- it all depends on the person not weather they are a girl or guy.

    ReplyDelete
  147. maybe because they were invited to perform there? Like for the opening or something?

    ReplyDelete
  148. Why would you even blame the idols on that? Blame the fans. But seriously, that littering is so disrespectful. At least have some respect for the people cleaning up afterwards.

Well, at least this time some people does not blame idols blindly simply because they are idols.

  154. i didn't talk about how much money they made or their income as a whole but about how much that idols get pay when they did dramas, movies, cfs, and musicals...idol payed so cheap in acting industries but bring attention from younger audience that why they are everywhere in acting industry

    ReplyDelete
  155. Just a question, how are actors to act when watching people perform? Because I'm wondering if their norm of behavior fits in your definition of "classy" people.

    ReplyDelete
  158. i think that only apply for korean netizens xDD

    ReplyDelete
  159. I find it funny how when someone trolls as an EXO fan, All Exo fans are crazy, but some one trolls as another fandom, theyre just a troll

Exo fans arent that different from any other fandom, everything is just magnified and totally over blown

like the fact that theyr getting bashed for this but not the VIP's and other fandom who did the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  160. i would be bored to death if i was there

    ReplyDelete
  161. a strong sense of bitterness reeks out of that statement

    ReplyDelete
  162. The amount of dislike for EXO and the level of crazy of their fandom is bringing me back to DBSK days when everyone in Korea hated DBSK because they are just a bunch of untalented nugu idols with a whole army of delusional fangirls. I wasn't a fan of DBSK but it was pretty well known back in the days.

The generation that disliked DBSK grew up and the people who talk about them favorably now were the teens/kids back then who either liked or at least respected them. The cycle will repeat itself in a few years time. The people hating on idols groups now will also grow up and stop giving crap about these things and the netizens who will be adults and inhabiting the boards will in turn be the teens/kids who liked these idols now.

    ReplyDelete
  165. read the sentence again.

"it wasn't only fans that crowded around"

    gurrrll

    ReplyDelete
  166. I should've indicated that, but they're the ones I'm talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  167. are you sure? cause i am pretty sure it depends on the person and how well known/well received they are with the public.

    ReplyDelete
  168. nope, this time wasn't too much. it was just because of some noob actor who didnt get the attention they wanted scapegoating idols in general.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Yeah, i agree with some but... complaining doesn't sounds all that cool, you know?

    ReplyDelete
  170. he cnt be great actor, but is an actor...going to an event for actors so what?

  171. Ride Ride Pony Tonight~October 5, 2013 at 11:16 PM

It's because of all the crazy things Exo fan did. There's very few fandoms going this far.

    ReplyDelete
  172. They only target Exo because they feel threatened by them taking the spotlight from their oppars

they just use the fandom as an excuse to bash xD

    ReplyDelete
  173. well dont invite them!, is u only want actors, let only actors go!

    ReplyDelete
  174. at the end of the day actors have more money and fame than any idol,

And srly EXO fans REALLY need to learn what respect is.

    ReplyDelete
  175. the level of snobbery when it comes to actors vs. idols is rich. so many k-actors started off shit (and still are) and many went into the industry because they failed at training to be an idol or something else. there's no inherent reason actors deserve more respect when they're also performers. if you even want to go a step further, the average schedule and load of an idol far exceeds that of an actor. unsavory, but true.

    ReplyDelete
  176. no hes a fking idol-actor....

    ReplyDelete
  177. yea tabi u dont the word DISRESPECTFUL.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Yeah, we can say fanboys do love their noonas as delulu as fangirls but fanboys doesn't do stupid behavior like fangirls do. You get the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  179. It's VERY true about the performances at awards shows, I've seen plenty of these performances to know that the actors and actresses don't even pretend to look like they're interested and it always bothers me. Some of them don't even hesitate to show that they are genuinely uninterested in the performances to the point of where it's rude in some moments.

    ReplyDelete
  180. you call them actors? LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  181. 1. [+341, -15] Don't blame the idols but the stupid fangirls

Thank you netizens, for putting the right comment on top for once.

    ReplyDelete
  182. still and actor, and promoting a movie , so dont invite the ones that dont have anything to do with acting.....

    ReplyDelete
  183. nope, im sure i read a korean articles about this before they said about idol being paid low in acting industry...and even the one who is top idols they are top for what they do in music industry well receive for their music that doesn't make they are a top in acting industry too..

    ReplyDelete
  184. that arrogance and bitterness...smh...because people keep on insisting actors>idols, some actors became conceited and looked down on idols like they are a level higher and should be given more attention whenever they appear

    ReplyDelete
  185. Ahahaha I shouldn't be laughing but that is just pwehehehe

    ReplyDelete
  186. Doesn't make it any less bitter. Most performers get high off the attention that's what they really want the money and fame is nice but the attention is what they got into the industry for and when they see someone else has more of it it's like a child has been taken away from a child.

And a lot of Exo fans (I use that term loosely) don't even respect the idols they adore, they have no clue what that word means.
